International Baccalaureate (IB)
Glenferrie Primary School was accepted as an authorised International Baccalaureate school in 2019 and is now officially a Primary Years Program (PYP) school.
The IB program is an educational framework that aims to develop internationally minded people who, recognising their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
To this end the organisation works with schools, governments and international organisations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
An IB education is informed by these values:
- centres on learners
- develops effective approaches to teaching and learning
- works with global contexts
- explores significant content
The IB Primary Years Program represents a combination of wide-ranging research and experience – excellent practice derived from a variety of national system and independent schools, and from IB World Schools offering a coherent programme of international education.
