Parents - How you can be involved
Glenferrie Primary School welcomes parents and carers to participate in our school life.
Many programs cannot operate without parental support. Parents frequently work with our teachers to support learning in Literacy (Reading and Writing) and Numeracy.
Additionally, parents are often called on to assist in incursions and excursions, camps, interschool sports, and other special days. If you would like to be involved, we would love to have you. Please contact the office to organise privacy training with Assistant Principal.
It is also recommended that parent helpers get a Working With Children check prior to volunteering here. This can easily arranged by visiting:
Parents and Friends
The Glenferrie Primary School Parents and Friends (GPS P&F) are a group of parents and sometimes grandparents and friends who aim to build a great sense of belonging in the school community and to raise funds for the school. This is achieved through variety of school and class events. For example during 2018, P&F organised or assisted teachers with Glenferrie Festival Book Stall, Film Events, Father’s Day Breakfast, Book Talks, Bunnings BBQ, Election Day Sausage Sizzle, Footy Day, Book Day and Italian Day. From the 2018 P&F fundraising, GPS was able to complete landscaping projects.
GPS P&F are always in need of people to help out in all aspects from classroom representatives, pre-event planning, sourcing and purchasing for events, advertising events, set up and help at the time of events.
If you are interested in getting involved in any aspect of P&F, classroom representative, planning or helping out at one or some events, please contact them at email@example.com, and let them know how you could help or if you have any comments or suggestions.
Ongoing Fundraising Activities
Icy Pole Wednesdays ‐ Icy Poles are available for sale to students in Term 1 and Term 4 for 50¢ at lunchtime. Tamsyn and Vanessa are our wonderful icy pole sellers.
IGA Dockets ‐ Place your IGA dockets into the collection box on top of the teacher’s pigeon holes in the Senior School. We collate these periodically and sends them into IGA where the school receives a percentage of the money spent at the stores.
Film Events ‐ Through the year Film Events are organised at Lido Cinemas. These are generally films for adults and are on weeknight or sometimes a kids film on the weekend or after school. Our resident film buff Drew selects the film from a range of genres and organises the event. Tickets are sold through TryBooking.
