In Semester 1 at Glenferrie Primary School, all students participate in a weekly one hour session in a well equipped art room. Areas include painting, drawing, clay, collage, threads and textiles as well as ICT and digital media. Students regularly use their iPad to draw, research ideas, artists and galleries. They keep an online portfolio of their work-in-progress and completed artworks. Units are sequential, based around classroom inquiry themes, popular gallery exhibitions and student interests. Success and enjoyment are important as is group interaction and sharing of ideas. Art Captains are an important student-parent link and support the art program by publicising and helping with any school art events.
